The ONLF guerrilla's officials have claimed victory over heavy fighting between their forces and the Ethiopian troops in the Somali region under the control of Ethiopia, official told Shabelle radio on Wednesday.
The officials said that there had been fighting between the Ethiopian troops and ONLF guerrilla forces which recently continued in several areas in the Somali region in Ethiopia like Dolo, Darar and Badilo.
Hussein Mohamed Nor, the secretary of ONLF for the information affairs said that they killed more than 100 Ethiopian troops during the fighting adding they captured more Ethiopian military officers pointing out that there were some casualties on their side.
Mr. Hussein who is Cairo disproved reports indicating that some of ONLF guerillas' officials surrendered to the Ethiopian troops saying that they issued statement on what he described wrongly translated report issued by the Ethiopian government.
"There are ambush wars and attacks that we target to the Ethiopian troops at the night times which we inflict more casualties to the Ethiopian troops," said Hussein Mohamed
The fighting between ONLF rebels and Ethiopian troops continuing in the Somali region under the Ethiopian government's control is part of a string of clashes between the two sides which often complained about by the people in the region.
