Arusha — The much awaited annual Snooker league kicked off last week at the Arusha Gymkhana Club. The sponsor for this year is Car & General, the award-winning distributor of Briggs & Stratton products, among other products like Cummins (Power Generation), Suzuki (Ride the Winds of change), TVS, Mercury#1 and Ingersoll Rand.
The league has attracted 22 players who will battle out over the course of three months whereby the league will be split into two stages. The first stage will involve two groups consisting of eleven players each and will play a best of two frames against one another in league format. The top six players in each table will thereafter qualify for the second stage called the Super League. The qualified players will then play in league format against one another in similar format.
According to organizers, Car & General has already pledged prizes for the top three winners and also the highest break of the tournament. All players are reported to be in high gear and looking forward to an exciting competition.
The League table will be updated and published in the Arusha Times every weekend.
