Windhoek — The National Democratic Party (NDP) has announced that it is for the first time since its birth in 2003 to contest the national elections this year.
The party intended to run in the 2004 general elections but was informed at the eleventh hour by the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) that it did not meet the requirements at the time. Among the concerns of the ECN then was that its name then, the Caprivi National Democratic Party (CNDP) carried a tribal connotation. The 'Caprivi' word has since been removed. The party will not run for the presidency. Its list of National Assembly candidates is as follows:
