22 October 2009

Abuja — The Chairman of Etisalat Nigeria Hakeem Belo Osagie has said that the company has spent over $2 billion in building their network across the country in the last one year of its operation.

He said this yesterday in Abuja at a ceremony to mark the one year anniversary of the network in Nigeria.

He said the company have over 500 active cell sites across the nation with over 2 million subscribers and a total coverage of about 40% of Nigeria's population.

"At the launch of our commercial operations in the country twelve months ago, we made a solemn promise to the Nigerian nation: a promise to bring to Nigerians the same world-class products and services Etisalat is known for in the 17 other countries we operate in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. We are very happy that one full year on, we are able to come before you with our scorecard to show evidence of a promise fulfilled", he said.
