Nigeria: Daniel, NNPC to Parley on Gas Project

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Engineer Mohammed Barkindo has pledged the support of the NNPC to the success of the OK LNG project situated in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Engineer Barkindo made the pledge at the end of a meeting he held with Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State in Abuja, yesterday. Towards this end, a meeting of major stakeholders in the project has therefore been scheduled for Abeokuta in the next few days.

The GMD described the project which is being promoted by the country's leading oil majors and the NNPC as key to the country petroleum sector, saying the NNPC would support the efforts of the Ogun State Government in the area of oil and gas development. He also asked for the support of the Governor on the oil sector reform being undertaken by the NNPC.

Barkindo said Governor Daniel should help in persuading the National Assembly to give the bill speedy passage so that the nation could start to reap from its many benefits.

Otunba Daniel in his response said Barkindo should continue to take all stakeholders along so that the process of change would be agreeable to all concerned. He stressed that the oil corporation can count on the support of the Ogun State Government.

He said the early completion of the OK -LNG project would improve the country's oil revenue, tackle gas flaring, provide job for the citizens and help in the actualization of the reform agenda of the NNPC.
