Tunis — First classes start today at the Mediterranean Institute of maritime professions in Tunis. This project was authorized by President Ben Ali in the ministerial meeting in January 2008 to provide educational and training institution in the maritime professions.
The institute will provide training for Tunisian students as well as students from the Gulf countries and Europe. It is estimated that some 40,000 jobs will be available in the various maritime professions worldwide.
The new institute, which will be set up with the help of French cooperation according to the agreement conducted in April 2008, is designed to promote training in maritime professions, as well as in the management of commercial and recreational ports.
