Angola: New Italian Ambassador Presents Copies of Credentials

21 October 2009

Luanda — The new Italian ambassador to Angola, Giuseppe Mistreta, on Tuesday in Luanda presented copies of his Credentials to the Foreign Affairs minister, Assunção dos Anjos, documents that serve to start the process of his accreditation in this country.

In the end of the audience with the Foreign minister, Giuseppe Mistreta, who has been in Angola for two months, manifested his satisfaction and stated that he will do his best to keep relations between the both countries at an excellent level, as they are currently.

He said that in the framework of the relations between the two countries, 2009 has been an important year, considering that, among other things, there was the visit to Angola of the Italian Foreign Affairs minister, Franco Frettini, and the presence of the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, in the G-8 Summit that was held in L'Aquila, at the invitation of the Italian authorities.

The diplomat also assured that he intends to work to materialise several projects in different sectors, such as in agriculture, industry, fisheries, among other fields that can benefit both states.

In the ambit of his diplomatic work in Angola, cultural relations will equally deserve major attention, so, in view of this, it is already scheduled for next November, in Luanda, a Cultural Week event, which will comprise music, technical and scientific activities, aiming to bring the two peoples even closer together.
