Nairobi — Botswana President Ian Khama has named his first Cabinet, re-appointing all the ministers who survived the General Election last Friday.
The Botswana Head of State has been ruling for the last 16 months largely with the Cabinet he inherited from his predecessor, Mr Festus Mogae.
But the General Election granted him the opportunity to appoint his own Cabinet after two of his most loyal ministers Mr Jacob Nkate and Mr Neo Moroka lost the elections while two others, Dr Margaret Nasha and Ms Gladys Kokorwe retired from active politics. Botswana has 16 cabinet ministers.
The new Cabinet excludes prominent members of Barataphathi faction of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
