Uganda: U.S. Pledges to Support North Projects

Kampala — THE US government is committed to supporting development programmes in Acholi as long as funds are well utilised by the implementing partners, an official has said.

"Barack Obama's government will support Amuru and other local governments in Acholi to recover from the effects of the LRA war if the partners continue to implement programmes well," John Mark Winfield, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) deputy mission director, said.

He made the remarks while commissioning classrooms and teachers' houses at Pa-Raa and Olwiyo primary schools in Amuru district on Tuesday. The sh410m buildings were funded by the US government.
