Nigeria: ANPP Stalwart Backs Deregulation Policy

Lafia — A stalwart of the All Nigeria Peoples Party ANPP in Nasarawa state, Barrister Solomon Ewuga has thrown his weight behind the planned deregulation policy of the federal government.

Speaking to leadership in an exclusive interview in Lafia, Barrister Ewuga observed that the deregulation of the petroleum sector will enhance availability of the product and increase private partnership.

Ewuga said deregulation will bring about efficiency and competition in the sector, adding that government will preserve funds that could be used for other developmental projects in the country.

He added that the policy will encourage private partnership and reduce the burden on government, while calling on stakeholders to educate the public on the importance of the deregulation policy.

On whether importers will not hijack the process and cause hardship to Nigerians by fixing unwholesome prices, he said that price mechanism will not be a problem, adding that what Nigerians want is efficiency and availability, stressing that deregulation will avail consumers opportunity of where to buy.
