Tunisia: President Ben Ali Wins 2009 Presidential Elections With 89.62 Percent

Tunis — With 89.62 % President Zine Al Abidine Ben Ali wins 2009 Presidential Elections held yesterday over Mr. Mohamed Bouchiha, Secretary General of the Popular Unity Party (PUP) 5.01%, Mr. Ahmed Inoubli, Secretary General of the Unionist Democratic Union (UDU) party 3.80% and Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, Secretary-general of Ettajdid Movement 1.57%.

2009 Presidential Elections registered 4737367 participants, 289979 are residents aboard. The rate of Tunisian participation reached 89.40% while the participation of citizens abroad rises up to 90.25%.
