Kampala — THE UGANDA National Examinations Board (UNEB) has opened examination centres in Southern Sudan.
Matthew Bukenya, the head of the examinations body, on Thursday confirmed the deliveries. "South Sudan and Ugandan students are doing the same exams. We shall continue setting for them until further notice," he said.
A day to the beginning of the exams on Monday, UNEB flew examination papers and materials for 256 senior four candidates in Southern Sudan.
More exams for 1,527 pupils will be flown at the end of this month. This is in addition to other Sudanese students who are sitting their exams within Uganda, at two designated centres.
Southern Sudan's liaison officer Michael Longwa said during the civil war in Sudan, many students in the south started using Uganda's curriculum.
Southern Sudan, according to Bukenya, will foot the related examination expenses incurred. He dismissed fears that the examinations may leak.
