Zambia: Chief Nalubamba Remarks Worry MMD

THE MMD is disappointed with Senior Chief Bright Nalubamba for his media remarks that President Rupiah Banda qualifies to be a liar.

MMD national chairperson, Michael Mabenga said in Lusaka yesterday that the party was taken aback that the chief issued the derogatory remarks against the head of State.

Mr Mabenga said Chief Nalubamba's utterances only helped to undermine his own dignity.

Mr Mabenga appealed to traditional rulers not to involve themselves in politics to preserve the respect that people have for them.

He said it was discouraging that even after President Banda apologised over the fuel shortage, Chief Nalubamba still decided to attack him through the media.

The chief was quoted in some sections of the media yesterday as saying that Mr Banda qualified to be a liar.
