Kampala taps will between Wednesday and Friday run dry as service provider, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation, undertakes a systems upgrade on the main supply plant at Ggaba.
The development will affect the whole of Kampala service area, indicates a Friday internal memo to NW&SC managers seen by Daily Monitor.
Ms Miriam Kadaga, the NW&SC public relations manager, yesterday confirmed the development, saying the Ggaba pumping station will be shut down to allow maintenance works.
"UMEME is carrying out maintenance works. We hope that they will finish their work in time," Ms Kadaga told Daily Monitor by telephone.
Why the shortages
This comes a month after NW&SC announced an acute water shortage in the city.
Ms Kadaga attributed the persistent water shortage to the poor state of pumping equipment.
She advised people to store water before cut-off on Wednesday.
