Zimbabwe: Allan Thrills Fans

Harare — DENDERA musician Allan Chimbetu proved that he is the undisputed heir to the Dendera music dynasty that was started by his late brother Simon after he put up a sterling performance at Andy Millar Hall at the weekend.

Allan had a good time on stage despite sharing the stage with the trail-blazing Alick Macheso and visiting Democratic Republic of Congo rhumba musician Djouna Big One.

An unfazed Allan churned out hit after hit to the swelling crowd and his act was complemented well by his energetic dancers.

He proved that his time to become the next big thing on the local music scene had come.

Revellers loved every second of it when Allan, whose voice is similar to that of his late brother Simon, took them down memory lane with such popular songs as One Way, Dzandipedza Mafuta, among others.

He also impressed with his own catalogue of songs such as Sony, Jefferson and Simukai, the title track of his latest album of the same name.

This was his third time sharing the stage with a foreign musician.

Meanwhile, Macheso who was billed to be the closing act, had to play early after Djouna Big One arrived late.

The musician, however, was in fine form and belted out hit after hit.

Djouna, on the other hand, also showed the stuff he was made of, and played songs that locals were familiar with.
