Rwanda:Dentists to Join Medics Body

25 October 2009

Kigali — The Ministry of Health is drafting a new law the Rwanda Medical Council (RMC) which incorporates dentists into the body.

"Members of the association of dentists have been consulted and they are willing to join the RMC as encouraged by the draft," Legal Officer in the Ministry of Health, Spencer Bugingo Bugingo told The New Times.

He explained that initially, the law that governs RMC, which was enacted in 2001 excluded dentists. He said that the new draft was in line with merging all medical professionals under one umbrella.

When the bill is approved and published in the official gazette, among other concerns, dentists will have RMC represent their interests.
