Kaduna — The Adamawa State Government on Friday said it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a Spanish firm on the construction of a multi-purpose stadium.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr Sam Zadok, made this known in Yola when he received the executive officers of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
Zadok, who could not disclose the project's cost, said that the project would involve the expansion of the stadium on Yola-Numan road in Yola.
He said that work on the stadium project would begin this month, adding that the government intended to make the state a place for the discovery of great sportsmen and women of the future.
He said that the construction and completion of the stadium would also assist in generating more revenue for the state.
Zadok also said that the government had concluded plans to establish sports centres in all the state's 21 local government areas.
He solicited the support of the media for the state's development initiatives.
