Zimbabwe: Cairns, Curtis Biggest Movers

RYAN Cairns and Mike Curtis are Zimbabwe's biggest movers on the Sunshine Tour money list. The professionals moved a few steps up the money list ladder, following a good outing at the three day BMG Classic, which ended last Sunday at Glendower Golf Club in South Africa.

Cairns moved to position 80. He occupied position 74 at the end of the SAA Pro-AM Invitation a fortnight ago. Cairns tied for position 24 in the BMG Classic and raked in R5 500 after hitting rounds of 75-66-72. He has so far this season collected R98 642 in 22 tournaments.

Curtis is also one of the biggest movers on the money list. He moved from position 93 to 88 after the BMG Classic. He won R6 833, in the BMG Classic to take his earnings to R63 993 in 21 outings.

He tied for position 18 after hitting rounds of 71-71-70 to pocket R6 833.

The best man on show at the BMG Classic was Marc Cayeux, who finished tied for position nine to pocket R10 416. However this did not improve Cayeux's money list standing as he slipped to position 30 from 29.

Cayeux, the country's highest paid professional on the Sunshine Tour, has earned R301 424 in eight tournaments. Cayeux is not a regular on the Sunshine Tour, but when he decides to play, he wins major purses.

Tongoona Charamba, who scooped the Africom Classic a fortnight ago on home soil also slipped on the money list. He failed to make the cut in the BMG Classic and slipped from position 39 to 40. Charamba is currently the second highest earning black professional on the Sunshine Tour. He has pocketed R225 333 in 18 tournaments.

Farai Chitengwa, Sean Farrell and Brian Gondo also failed to make the cut in the BMG Classic.

Chitengwa also slipped on the money list. He moved from position 130 to 132. He has earned R18 530 in 14 tournaments. Farrell also tumbled on the money list. He dropped from position 124 to 127. So far he has earned R19 320 in nine tournaments.

Meanwhile Gondo, Farrell, Curtis and Chitengwa are currently playing in the Highveld Classic at Witbank Golf Club. The tournament ends today.
