Nigeria: Army Promotes 121 Soldiers At Zaria Depot

Abuja — The Nigerian Army has promoted 121 soldiers to various ranks at the Zaria Depot. Five Staff-Sergeants were promoted to Warrant-Officers, two Sergeants to Staff-Sergeants, 33 Corporals to Sergeants, 44 Lance-Corporals to Corporals and 37 Privates to Lance-Corporals.

Speaking after decorating the soldiers on Saturday at the Depot, the Commandant, Brig-Gen. Afandi Shehu, urged them to reciprocate the gesture through hard work and dedication to duty. He charged them to always exhibit high sense of discipline, patriotism and selflessness.

Shehu urged the soldiers to see the promotion as a testimony to their hard work, stressing that the army expected much more from them.

"To whom much is given, much is expected," he added, and advised them to seek more education and "mind what you say or do outside". (NAN)
