Abuja — The World Bank has released over N34 milion to the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) as grant to aid it in the research for a cure to diabetes which is presently killing many Nigerians.
The fund is to be used to develop an anti diabetes phytomedicine from selected Nigerian medical plants, and hopefully lead to the manufacture of a permanent cure.
In a letter to the Director General of NIPRD, the bank said it has no objection that $230,000 being part of the money the institute applied for should be used for development of anti-diabetes phytomedicine from selected Nigerian medical plants.
