Tunis — "Ben Ali Attarik Ethaleth" (Ben Ali: The Third Way) is the title of a new book published by the Al Arab press and publishing establishment.

This book, authored by Tunisian, Arab and foreign writers, contains analyses of areas of success of the Tunisian experience.

It is prefaced by Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Al Houni, editor in chief and general manager of the London-based Al-Arab newspaper which is distributed in Arab and European capitals.

He particularly writes that Tunisia has become a model based on clear characteristics and a progressive approach in service of citizens. Similarly, it has drawn up on its way terms that have captured the attention such as notions of interdependent society and co-development, adding that Tunisia has endeavoured to give these terms universal dimensions and made them a basis for its relations with regional groupings and others.

In an analysis on what he considers the "third way," in Tunisia with its economic and social dimensions and its performance at the political and cultural levels, he says that the Tunisian model has ended up achieving great successes at the level of international rankings compared with other countries that have significant resources and natural wealth such as oil, gas and a large territory.

He reminds that Tunisia ranks best Arab country in terms of quality of life and first African country in economic competitiveness, stressing also the country's political successes reflected in international reports which consider Tunisia the most stable country on the regional scale.

In his analysis of the foundations of the Tunisian approach, he points out that the Tunisian model has paved the way for a pluralistic experience.

The 137-page book, with a photo of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali on the cover, also contains a set of articles by academics, poet Slaheddine Boujah, Algerian critic and writer Azraj Omar, journalist and writer Jihane Laghmari Snoussi and Dr. Michel Abidal.
