Maputo — The Angolan ambassador to Mozambique, Garcia Bires, considered the current Mozambican electoral model as interesting, since it encourages the political parties to define their priorities in the poll.
Speaking to ANGOP to analyse the Mozambican electoral process and the relations between the two countries, Garcia Bires highlighted that in this model the political parties can only run for the Republic's Assembly if they have some requisites, which also happens in the provincial assemblies.
Therefore, when the political party enlists itself for the poll, it should define in accordance with its requisites the ward it will run for, by presenting candidatures capable to fill in the indicated seats.
To the Diplomat, this model also facilitates the state management of the funds for the elections.
Speaking about the electoral process, Garcia Bires said that so far he has a positive opinion about it, after the decision of the Constitutional Council that confirmed the measure of the National Electoral Commission that hindered the participation of 10 political parties in the elections, due to the irregularity during their enlistment for the polls.
To him, a lot of political parties still have not created bases to compete with the so called big parties, but what is important is the people's massive participation in the polls.
