Sokoto — The bodies of six persons have been found floating after a boat capsized in Gangam, Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Friday. Villagers said all on board went in as the boat overturned in heavy windstorm.
The bodies were found floating in the Shagari dam after three days of intensive search. They called on the local and state governments to assist in the provision of bigger boats that can withstand the water tide to check similar mishaps in the area. Speaking while condoling families of the deceased, the counsellor representing Gangam ward Alhaji Muhammad Dan Fari urged the bereaved to take the incident as an act of Allah.
A similar incident was recorded at Lambara village, also in Shagari Local Government Area few months ago when a boat mishap also claimed six.
