Kampala — About 500,000 customers of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) will have no water for three days due to a systems upgrade.
The upgrade, ongoing at the Ggaba III water treatment plant, will see the 15 NWSC water reservoirs run dry between october 28 and 30.
"We are doing our routine upgrade. The number of clients connected to the system is so overwhelming that it has affected the system," NWSC spokesperson Gloria Nakibuuka said.
She pointed out that after the upgrade, the current ban on connecting new client would be lifted.
Nakibuuka said the water reserved in the 15 tanks was not sufficient to serve the entire Kampala area.
The major reservoirs are located in Muyenga, Nakasero, Naguru, Kololo and Mulago.
"That is why we are advising the public to reserve water for the three days since the reserves will most likely run dry," she said.
Kampala consumes 140,000 cubic meters of water each day.
