Minna — It will no longer be business as usual for civil servants in Niger State as Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu has instructed the Head of Service to punish workers who do not pay attention to their jobs.
Aliyu said this during the flag-off of distribution of equipment to renovated and upgraded hospitals in the state where he called on staff of hospitals in the state to exploit the availability of the equipments by standing up to their responsibilities.
He said the state government would deal with medical practitioners who abandon their offices to the detriment of patients, adding that the newly acquired hospital equipment was to boost health services in the state.
Aliyu ordered the state owned newspaper to publish the equipment, identifying what is allocated to each hospital so that people could know if they have been stolen or put out of use. Earlier, the Commissioner for Water Resources and chairman, state project monitoring and evaluation committee Dr Isah Yahaya Vatsa disclosed that the equipments were supplied by Sneco Company on Public-Private Partnership initiative at the cost of N800 million. He said the equipments would put an end to referral treatment overseas, adding that most of the state-of- the arts equipment needed for treating delicate ailments are now in the state.
"Today's event will no doubt reduce to the barest minimum, the number of referral cases abroad as Nigerlites can now access the services of modern medical equipment in their neighbourhood area either in Agaie, Suleja, Kagara, Mariga of Kontagora", he said.
