Member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru in the House of Representatives Hon. Chief Bethel Amadi has announced an annual scholarship endowment fund for the indigent students in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.

Hon. Amadi made the revelation during the 2009 Iri-ji ceremony of the Ikeduru people held at the Ugiri-ike Community Primary School; he was also chairman of the occasion.

He told the people that he feels concerned for the plight of the less privileged in the society especially student's noting that education is the right of every one and then urged the committee for the disbursement of the money to be fair in choosing the beneficiaries.

Hon. Amadi said the amount for the scholarship endowment was 1 million naira and that the trustees are all the traditional rulers in Ikeduru because according to him they are grass root people who would always bring the best and ensure equity and fairness.

The donor who is also the first vice president pan African parliament as well as vice president commonwealth parliamentary Assembly (African region) solicited for unity of the people and respect for leaders, then called for the support of his people for future dividends of democracy.

Speaking also, Chairman of Ikeduru council of traditional rulers Eze Ben Nwaneri lauded the magnanimity of Hon. Amadi and promised that the royal fathers would ensure fairness on the scholarship project.

Eze Nwaneri maintained that even though Iri-ji was a cultural heritage, the traditional rulers would not forget their culture and tradition which they inherited from their ancestors especially those that promote justice, peace and good governance in Ikeduru and then urged his people to always support Iri-ji.

Also speaking, Chief Emmanuel lwuanyanwu called on the people to support Hon. Amadi's goodwill to people pointing out that Ikeduru was one family. He enjoined his people to maintain peace, unity and love and support the plans and programmes of Governor Ikedi Ohakim.
