Nigeria: Governor Sheirff Commends DAAR Communications

Maiduguri — GOVERNOR Ali Sheirff of Borno State has commended the management of DAAR Communication Ltd (owners of AIT Raypower) for establishing its sub-station in the state for effective coverage of activities of the government and people of the state.

He gave the commendation when he visited the newly established DAAR station situated along Biu - Damboa road in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Sheriff said with establishment of the new station in the state capital, people of the state would be properly informed about government programmes and policies, aimed at delivering dividends of democracy to the people.

According to him, without the media, people would not know what was happening, adding that the establishment of African Independent Television (AIT) in the state was timely and called on the management to consider Borno State indigenes while recruiting new staff.

Earlier in his welcome address, the manager of the new station, Mr. Patrick Mark, who received and conducted the governor round the new complex, said the purpose of establishing the station in the state was to propagate government programmes and exposed the rich cultural heritage of the state to other parts of the world.

He said media outfit has established 20 of such sub-stations across the country, pointing out that the North-East zone has four stations located in Bauchi,Yola, Gombe and Maiduguri with zonal office in Maiduguri.

Mark told the Governor that with the completion of the new media complex, installation of transmission facilities would commence in earnest, adding that they would start transmission in English and other local languages as soon as the facilities are installed.

He solicited government assistance for 11 KVA transformer, vehicle and borehole, and assured the governor that their organisation will give priority to Borno State indigenes during their job recruitment.
