Windhoek — The 2009 Namibian Businesswoman of the Year winner, Hettie Garbers-Kirsten, paid a brief courtesy visit to Telecom Namibia this week. She was officially welcomed by the company's Managing Director Frans Ndoroma.
A lawyer by profession, Garbers-Kirsten has been running her own legal business 'Kirsten and Company' law firm for the past 11 years. Conducting almost all aspects of the legal service, she is notably described as the "best divorce lawyer in the country."
Her business currently accommodates 13 staff members, three of which are admitted lawyers and one articled clerk.
Besides the main award, Hetty Garbers-Kirsten also won the Business Owner Award. She snatched the crown from six other finalists. Garbers-Kirsten was rated as the best overall performer throughout the competition.
One of the judges, Helene Vosloo said that the judging process, which was fair and transparent and the prize went to the "woman with outstanding characteristics - not only as a business woman but also as a woman in her own right."
During the engagement, Ndoroma congratulated Garbers-Kirsten on her latest success, while she thanked Telecom Namibia for the sponsorship to the Economist Businesswomen Projects, which runs the Namibian Businesswoman of the Year Award.
"I am thinking of starting a public legal education project which I would like to partner with Telecom Namibia," Garbers-Kirsten said. Telecom Namibia has been a main sponsor of the Namibian Businesswomen of the Year award since 2004.
