Nairobi — Harambee Stars have lined up an international friendly match against Kuwait next Wednesday in Cairo.
Football Kenya Limited senior vice chairman, Titus Kasuve, said all arrangements for the match had been finalised and that the team will fly out to Cairo on Sunday.
"The match agents for Kuwait have already sent us the tickets and we will use this match as our build-up before the next World Cup qualifier," Kasuve said on Tuesday.
Harambee Stars are currently in camp preparing for their final Group Two World Cup/African Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria in Nairobi on November 14.
The team composed mainly of home based players began training on Tuesday for the do-or-die tie.
The Stars must beat Nigeria and hope that Mozambique drop points against Tunisia whom they host on the same day.
The camp was bolstered by the arrival of Finland-based goalkeeper, Willis Ochieng.
Ochieng, who plays for IFK Mariehamn, trained with Harambee Stars on Tuesday evening and is available for international duty for the rest of the year following the completion of the Finish domestic league.
Ochieng has been coach Antoine Hey's first choice goalkeeper in the last two World Cup qualifiers following the unavailability of regular Kenya number one Arnold Origi through injury.
Expected in camp on Thursday are the league winning duo, Allan Wanga of Petro Atletico (Angola) and Patrick Osiako of Mjallby Solvesborg (Sweden).
Wanga was part of the Petro Atletico squad that were crowned champions of the Angola top league, the Girabola, last weekend while Osiako was a key player for Mjallby Solvesborg who recently gained promotion to the Swedish premier league after clinching the second tier competition, the Allsvenskan.
Man-of-the-match
Osiako was unexpectedly called up for the Tunisia away fixture on October 11 following the injury of Macdonald Mariga.
The Allsvenskan champion replied to the call-up with interest putting out a man-of-the-match performance in Rades to almost certainly retain his position for the up-coming clash with Nigeria.
Veteran midfielder Robert Mambo is involved in play-offs battle for promotion to the Swedish top division with his club GIF Sundsvall. He is expected at the Stars camp next week.
Thika United defender, Abdulatif Omar, has been recalled to the side.
After the qualifiers, the Harambee Stars will have little time to rest before the start of the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Nairobi from November 28 to December 13 in Kenya.
Top striker Allan Wanga has declared his availability for the regional fete together with goalkeeper Ochieng.
