Nigeria: Work On Lafia Multi Office Complex Nears Completion

Lafia — Work on a project to provide a complex housing four ministries of the Nasarawa State government is nearing completion along Lafia-Akwanga Road in Lafia, the state capital.

Daily Trust observed while on a visit to the site, yesterday, that already three blocks housing three different ministries have been completed and furnished. Commissioners and staffs of the three respective ministries have already packed from the temporary offices they were occupying.

The ministries already enjoying the facility are: Agriculture and Natural Resources, Health and Lands, Survey and Town Planning.

The project, which is being supervised by the state's Ministry of Housing and Environment, was embarked upon in the late days of 2008 as part of what the Director of Media and Publicity to Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma, Ibrahim Addra told Daily Trust as "the governor's desire to provide a conducive environment to boost workers' morale".

Ibrahim Addra said efforts are on to complete the project for the other ministry - Education, to also move in, soon. "In no distant time, the contractors will complete work on the remaining block of office at the complex so that Ministry of Education will equally move in."

The Director of Media added that the contract entails provision of the office blocks, furnishing and landscaping which will be done to provide aesthetics to the facility. Daily Trust could not obtain the cost of the contract at press time.
