Zambia: Lusaka Woman Slain

28 October 2009

SUSPECTED bandits on Monday evening shot dead a woman of Asian origin and wounded her husband in Lusaka's Madras area at the gate of another family that the couple was visiting.

Lusaka Province police chief Greenwell Ng'uni said the suspects opened fire first by shooting the husband and later shot the wife who died instantly.

In an interview yesterday, Mr N'guni said the bandits demanded to be given money but after realising that the couple was not responding to their demand, they shot at them.

He explained that preliminary investigations reveal that an AK47 rifle was used in the shooting incident and investigations had been launched to bring to book the perpetrators of crime.
