KITWE businessman Masautso Banda has surrendered his son to former lover and singer Angela Nyirenda.
Mr Banda revealed yesterday that he gave back the child to Ms Nyirenda after consulting with his lawyers over the matter.
He said he was disappointed with the court's ruling advising him to sue Ms Nyirenda in Lusaka where she was a resident.
Mr Banda said that when he took his son from the court, he took him to his lawyers so they could pursue the matter further but that he was advised to immediately give up the child.
He said the child, was unwilling to go with him when he took him from court because the mother was turning the child against him.
Mr Banda charged that Ms Nyirenda's family was being difficult because all efforts to sort out the matter amicably had failed.
He said it was also good that the mother had taken the child with the understanding that he would visit his father during holidays.
"The good thing is that the child is with the mother. She can have him since she wants to. He is my son and I continue to be there for him like I have always been," he said.
He had every document on which they signed with Nyirenda's family that he could take custody of his son.
He said he had given up the child and that he was not going to sue again.
On Monday, Mr Banda grabbed his son from his mother at the Kitwe local court.
This was after senior presiding justice Rodney Kasonka dismissed the case in which he had sued for custody on the basis that the case be heard in Lusaka where the defendant was residing.

While it is a good thing to take custody of your own child, please be responsible. Children are also humans & should not be a thing we fight for. He will always be your child. Let him not have a feel that, you have inprisoned him in your home. One day he will appreciate, you always loved him.Just be mindful to provide whatever you can for his good future. Its a good move Mr Banda!! And For Angella, please know, whatever happened btn u & Mr Banda, Mr Banda is still the father of ther kid & has nothing to do with the relationship the kid will have with the father! Take care.
