Maputo — Mozambican President Armando Guebuza, standing for re-election in Thursday's general election, coasted to an easy victory in the first five polling stations in Maputo with results declared by Radio Mozambique.
In these five stations, in Maputo Urban District Number Two, Daviz Simango, of the Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM) came second, while Afonso Dhlakama, leader of the former rebel movement Renamo, trailed a bad third.
The results from these five polling stations were:
Armando Guebuza (Frelimo) 1,320 Daviz Simango (MDM) 215 Afonso Dhlakama (Renamo) 86
