Harare — Prince Edward School will host a solo exhibition titled "My Graphic Journey" by Archie Karadzandima.
The exhibition, comprising artworks that represent the artist's journey through life will run from November 9 to 15.
On display would be 20 pieces that explore the ever-changing roles of art in the global village. The theme would also show the influence of the digital technology in modern art.
Karadzandima is a student at Chinhoyi University of Technology studying for a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) Degree.
Speaking on the exhibition Karadzandima said the world and history of art has always had a life of its own.
"It is ever dynamic, like a river flowing downstream, its course is only determined by the geography in its path. The quality of life pertaining to a certain period dictates how people act, speak, eat and relate to one another, it is a reflection of the times.
"In the world art history, Renaissance saw the revival of art and literature under the influence of classical models in the 14th-16th centuries. This was followed by Mannerism, which was excessive or self-conscious in the use of a distinctive style in art, characterised by unusual effects of scale, lighting, and perspective, and the use of bright, often lurid colours.
"It is particularly associated with the work of Pontormo, Vasari and the later Michelangelo. The Baroque movement then followed, and so on to this day, where we have the Post-Modernism era, in which digital influence is playing a very instrumental role and works of the artist.
"The artist at hand has managed to embrace this movement, to harness the potential of the digital and graphics world to its full potential.
Some of the objectives include reflecting on the role and impact of computers in art and design, highlighting the fluency of various design software and the significance they have in today's environment as well as presenting visually captivating artworks.
