Gaborone — Rumba star Franco Lesokwane begins his annual tour of Namibia this week, with two shows scheduled for Gobabis and Walvis Bay this weekend.
The rumba maestro revealed that for the first time he will be taking a number of his fans for the Namibian shows, but said he would only know by midweek how many he would be taking along with him, after several of them requested to be considered.
Franco will be performing in Gobabis on Friday and Windhoek on Saturday. He will be backed by his famous band, Afro-Musica, as well as groups from his own stable such as Rockas and Animals. Shumba Ratshega is another top local star who will be accompanying Franco, while two Namibian bands, On tha Radar, and Onyoka, will also be sharing the stage with him while there.
Franco revealed that after embarking on a non-stop 10-day tour of Namibia last year, he has now decided to do this year's tour of that country differently. This year, his six-city tour, has been split into two tours this weekend, and four tours next month.
Other towns he will be touring next month are Rundu, Katima Mulilo, Oshakati and Tsumeb.
