Tunis — Mr. Ridha Ben Mosbah, Minister of Commerce and Handicrafts paid a visit on Thursday to the Technical Innovation and Renewal Center, and briefing on carpet making and knitting where he took cognizance of the role of the center in boosting the skills and qualifications by using the latest technologies such as softwares, computers and sophisticated equipment in design and innovation.
Mr. Ben Mosbah, stressed that the setting up of research center on red carpets, "marcoum" (red beber carpet) wool and silk textiles befitting with modern life and modern tastes is one of the decisions taken by President Ben Ali with the view to develop the Tunisian economy, the inclusion of knowledge and scientific research in various areas of production.
He underlined that integration of technological solutions for innovation in traditional industries will increase the adding value of the carpet, Marcum and silk textiles production as well as it will strengthen its competitiveness in Tunisian market and foreign markets and will pave the way to employability namely for university graduates.
On the sidelines of the visit, Mr. Mosbah took cognizance of the researches and studies results achieved within the framework of the opening of the center at the academic and craft levels including Quality system within craft establishments and differences in colors designed for dyeing and tools used in carpet industry.
The Technical Innovation and Renewal Center, and the briefing in the carpet and knitting is currently designing a new up- to date and fashionable technique, for the private enterprises , which consists of forms derived from the national heritage and colors and keep pace with modern trends in furniture and clothing.
In addition to that, the center is documenting the various types of carpets, "clem", and "marcoum" in different parts of the country by noting the materials used and how to make them.
