Luanda — An emergency programme aimed at strengthening the thermoelectric capacity of Luanda will be implemented between next December and April of 2010 to provide 200 megawatts of electrical power, with the functioning of four new central stations, that may work on isolated basis.
It was said on Monday in Luanda by the minister of Energy Emanuela Lopes, during a meeting with the deputies of the seventh commission of the National Assembly, adding that the studies for the materialisation of the initiative will be concluded and available yet in the end of this year.
According to the Cabinet minister, the programme also foresees the rehabilitation and modernisation of Cambambe Hydroelectric central, including the raising of the dam, whose works are in course, aiming at guaranteeing greater viability and availability of the undertaking, as well as maximising its production capacity and making viable the building of the second central.
The source stressed that the ministry of Energy is also studying a plan for the rehabilitation of Cazenga Thermoelectric Central, comprised by five gas turbine set, with the objective to guarantee greater profitability of the 128-Mega watts project.
She said that her sector has projects for the construction of electrical power carrying system for 400 kilovolts, Capanda/Lucala/Luanda, including the enlargement of Viana substation and the construction of Cacuaco substation next December.
In the field of electrical energy supply, the Cabinet minister explained that the sector has rehabilitation and extension programme of low and medium tension network and the construction of 60/15 kilovolts.
The seventh commission of the National Assembly deals with matters related to health, environment, social action, job, former combatants, family, childhood and women promotion.
