Luanda — The Government of Angola is stupefied with the ruling by the Paris Court that convicted French citizens who in opportune time had helped the African country to guarantee the defence of the State and the democratic process amid the armed subversion condemned by the international community and by the United Nations, in particular.
According to a statement from the Angolan Government made public on Thursday, it was not proved in court any illegal trade of arms, because they (arms) were not even French-made and were not transported through French territory.
"At that time, there was not any international embargo against the purchase of arms by the legitimate government of Angola and the weapons were acquired by Angola in a perfectly legal business between the two sovereign States. So much that not even the signatories were considered part of this legal case," stresses the document.
According to the statement, in the presence of these facts, it seems that it was unbalanced and unfair process, based on considerations and motivations of political nature, above all, full of spirit of revenge, because some Angolans who had been supported by the French Special Services failed in their intentions of seizing power by the force of weapons.
The Angolan Government vehemently repudiates the abusive way how its name was repeatedly used in this process, thus constituting a violation of the principle of the mutual respect between the two States with diplomatic relations, either State secret or sensible issues related to the National Security and Defence.
