Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Eagle Airlines, Captain Dapo Olumide has been adjudged "Airline CEO of the Year 2009" by two different institutions - Nigerian Aviation Awards (NIGAV) and Akwaaba African Travel Market (AfTM) that recognises outstanding performance by individuals and corporate organisations alike in the development of the Nigerian aviation, Air Travel as well as the Tourism sector.

Both awards recognising Captain Dapo Olumide as the "Best Airline CEO of the Year 2009" comes on the heels of Nigerian Eagle Airlines retaining for the second consecutive time, its leadership position in the sub-region by clinching the "Best Airline in West Africa" award at the just concluded Akwaaba African Travel Market (AfTM), at the EXPO Centre of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Captain Dapo Olumide while receiving the multiple awards expressed appreciation to the organisers of NIGAV, Abuja and AfTM Lagos for the recognition which he noted were recognitions of modest efforts by his management team, to turn around the airline to a safer, profitable and efficient business model. He in particular lauded the transparent nomination process of both organisations which have made the awards to serve as reference points in the industry.

"The society at large is watching the strides that Nigerian Eagle Airlines have so far attained and we will not rest on our oars, rather, we will further challenge ourselves to surpass the standards by adopting best practices as our vision is to be in the vanguard of introducing innovative and costumer-centric products", he said.

Captain Olumide emerged as the best CEO following his visionary leadership style that he brought to bear as the first Nigerian Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Eagle Airlines. He was specifically applauded for revamping Virgin Nigeria and turning around the fortunes of the airline through his change management style that birthed Nigerian Eagle Airlines as a brand.

Nigerian Eagle Airlines recently went into partnership with other successful African carriers. It recently signed a landmark Technical Services Agreement (TSA) with Ethiopian Airlines signaling a healthy cooperation whereby Ethiopian Airlines will provide crew and pilot's Training, Maintenance and Resource Pooling as well as providing technical oversight functions for Nigerian Eagle Airlines.

Also in keeping date with industry trends, Nigerian Eagle Airlines recently signed a Code-share and Interline agreement with Kenya Airways to harness the opportunities that abound in Africa to make traveling within and beyond the continent as seamless as possible for passengers.
