World Travel Awards has pledged its support for Just a Drop charity and its bid to provide clean and safe water where it is urgently needed.

The World Travel Awards has been described by the Wall Street Journal as the 'Oscars' of the global travel and tourism industry, as it serves to recognise and reward excellence in the industry.

The most spectacular final in the 16-year history of the Awards will take place on November 8, the eve of World Travel Market (WTM) at Grosvenor House, a JW Marriott Hotel in the heart of Mayfair. It will bring together 1000 senior management and decision makers from the world's travel & tourism industry. All 120 Miss World contestants will also be present

World Travel Award guests will be invited to pick up an envelope and make a corporate or personal donation during the evening. The total amount raised will be announced during World Travel Market at the company's stand on Tuesday, November 10.

Just a Drop is an international charity that aims to provide clean, safe water and sanitation where it is most needed. To date, the charity has helped over a million children and their families in 28 countries.

"Just a Drop's work is vital to supporting impoverished communities across the world through its water, sanitation and health projects. We are hoping this year's World Travel Awards guests will get behind the charity's work by making a donation to this important and worthwhile cause," commented Graham Cooke, president and founder of the World Travel Awards.

The World Travel Awards final draws to a close the 2009 World Travel Award ceremonies in Africa, Central America, South America, North America, Europe and the Middle East.

The World Travel Awards were launched in 1993 to acknowledge and recognize excellence in the world's travel and tourism industry. Now celebrating its 16th Anniversary, the awards are regarded as the very highest achievement that a travel product could ever hope to receive.
