Nigeria/South Africa: Eagles Too Exciting to Miss World Cup -- FIFA Man

FIFA man, Salcedo Hugo has declared that Nigeria's senior national team, the Green Eagles are too exciting to miss from the World Cup in South Africa next year.

Hugo is the FIFA co-ordinator for Lagos in the on-going FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria. The American who was Coach of UCLA in USA said that he still relishes the exciting football that Nigerians played at the Atlanta '96 Olympic Games. "There are times like this for so many big teams. It is not only Nigeria that is battling to play themselves to the World Cup.

There are so many other bigger teams. It is common in football. But the important thing is that I am confident that Nigeria will be in South Africa for the World Cup", he said as he recalled the exploits of Nigeria at Atlanta '96. "I still remember the exploits of Nigeria at the Olympics where they played one of the best exciting games I have ever seen. So many Argentine players will never forget that match. It was a sweet victory for a resilient Nigerian team. I hope to see them in the World Cup".

On the U-17 World Cup, Hugo said that he was happy with the excitement of Nigerians and the people of Lagos. "Things are really going on well. We are happy in Lagos", he said
