Gambia: Burundian Reggae Star On Local Visit

One of the leading names in the Burundian music sector, Jampara, who is currently based in Amsterdam-Holland, is currently in The Gambia on a three-week tour to promote his music.

The Burundian star, who performs with a band called 'Jampara and the Batalion Band' arrived in the country last week with his band manager, Clazina Van Der Plas. The international reggae star is currently in the country to promote his music, as well as an upcoming new single called 'Margarita'. The Gambia in recent years has been regarded as a music paradise, considering the number of world stars who made sucessful tours in the country.

His musics dates back as far as 1983, and since then has performed in various cities across Europe as well as Africa. He sings mainly roots reggae. Having released two albums under his belt, the star is glad that his Gambia trip will brng more success to this music, considering the reggae loving fans in the smiling coast.

In an interview with What's On, the Amsterdam-based star disclosed that reggae music industry in Amsterdam is growing steadily. He admitted that The Gambia too has a vibrant reggae music sector. "I was influenced by my band manager, who visited the country on several occasions to come here," he said.

He explained that upon his return, he will be performing live on the 3rd of November with the Ivorian international reggae star, Alpha Blondy, in Amsterdam. Asked whether he would like to stage any musical concerts while in the country, Jamapra revealed that his intention was to perform while in the country, but due to his tight schedule he could not but will come back next year to perform.
