The last may not have been heard about the activities of kidnappers who seemed to have rendered men of the Nigerian Police Force impotent with the ease they snapped up citizens off the street in the name of kidnaping and demanding for money ransom.
The men in black seem to have come to their teeter ends and have no clue to the rampaging kidnapers who are very vibrant in the activities in the Eastern axis of the country.
Obviously taking advantage of the ill-equipped police, the kidnapers have continued to terrorize without the citizenry and bringing to halt major economic activities in some of the affected States.
Worst hit are Abia and Anambra State where very prominent citizens of the States have been taken off the streets in broad day light and sometimes from the comfort of their homes and held in captivity until money is exchange for their freedom.
The situation according veteran highlife musician Leonard Okapala. A.k.a. Peacemaker, has affected their means of livelihoods.
"You know we depend on these rich people because they provide food on our tables through the various shows they contract us to play. Now that this kidnaps thing has deteriorated, most of them are relocating to other cities with members of their families to avoid being kidnaped. The situation is so bad that nobody is safe any more."
To compound the situation, Peacemaker who made his debut into the music scene in 1974 said " The situation, hunger has become our bane as we no longer enjoy the patronage of these rich men. Our families are suffering as we now find it difficult to make ends meet."
On the way forward the highlife maestro whose debut album in 1974 ruled the airwaves and was the toast of music lovers, disclosed that he may relocate to Lagos to seek for greener pasture.
Said he "It's a shame that at my age, I should be relocating to another state. The way things stand if I get a place where I can ply my trade, I will be happy to leave Anambra State for now, until things change for good."
