Somalia: Big Explosion Kills Five Commanders in Sol Administration North Region

At least 5 high commanders of Sol administration have been killed and several others including civilians have been wounded in Las Anod town in Sol region after land mine explosion targeted to their vehicle there in north Somalia, witnesses told Shabelle radio on Sunday.

Locals said that the blast was very big and was a remote controlled saying that it was targeted to a high senior officisls' small truck as it was traveling in the centre of the town killing 5 of them including the chief of the army of Sol region Colonel Af-dillo.

"The blast could be heard all areas in the town. It was heard all areas. We also got shocked when it occured because it was very very big. At least 5 high commanders of Sol administration died there more others were wounded. Some of them were civilians. It was a luxury vehicle (Ronnet)," one witnesses said.

No group has claimed the responsibility of the blast so far.

Eyewitnesses told Shabelle radio that there were people including 4 senior officials and civilians injured around where the explosion occurred adding that all the wounded ones were rushed to the main hospital of the town.

Reliable source also said that the explosion had also affected another military truck (Abdi Bile) which was traveling after the commanders' vehicle but no was casualties was reported from it adding that more troops from Sol administration had reached at the scene where the blast happened in north of the country.
