Nigeria: Politician Lauds Ferma Over Roads

Gusau — The Federal Road Maintenace Agency (FERMA) has been commended for the repairs it is currently undertaking on federal roads across the country.

Making the commendation in a statement made available to journalists in Gusau, Special Adviser to Zamfara State Governor on Local Government Projects Alhaji Musa Garba said the repairs have not only improved quality of transportation on the affected roads, but will go a long way to save lives.

He said the repairs, especially in the pot-hole filled Gusau-Zaria road, will improve socio-economic activities among people of Zamfara, Katsina and Kaduna states which the road passes through.

According to him, motorists and other road users will now feel more comfortable riding the roads considering the fact that dangerous portions of the roads, hitherto left unattended to, have been fixed.

The Special Adviser, however, urged FERMA to constantly monitor the roads and respond rapidly anytime any section goes bad.

He equally appealed to the agency to mount road signs at dangerous sections, saying lack of such signs have led to accidents and devastating consequences.

He urged the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to keep a close watch on drivers whose dangerous driving cause damage to the roads. He also heaped praises on the new management of FERMA who he described as focused and determined to make Federal roads worthy of usage.
