Tunisia: Conference Focuses On 'Economic and Financial Crises'

Tunis — A conference on "economic and financial crises" was held on Wednesday at the "Political Science University" organized by Tunisian association for United Nations.

Opening the seminar, Mr. Abdalhafidh Harguem, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of Maghrebi, Arab and African Affairs said the economic crises and its negative impacts threaten improvements achieved so far by developed countries.

In this regard, he stressed to set up new measures so as to establish a transparent economic and financial world system in accordance with development dimension as well as providing opportunities for developed countries to take part in the establishment of this system.

He noted that the increase of the activities and the strengthening of the development system related to United Nations will prompt developed countries to face the crises and recover from it by achieving cooperation and establishing an organization that tackles economic changes and financial crises.

Mr. Ali Hashani, CEO of Tunisian association for United Nations highlighted the cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the association pointing out the 24th item of President Ben Ali's Electoral Program "Tunisia: Unwavering commitment to peace, stability and justice in the world" that the association will enhance in the coming period as well as it will strengthen Tunisia's presence in UN associations.

Several businessmen and financial experts took part in this event.
