Kampala — Over 15 Heads of State and 70,000 fans have so far given the Fifa World Cup trophy a stirring welcome on its tour of the African continent. Only Heads of State are allowed to touch the trophy currently in DR Congo following a successful tour of West Africa that ended in Gabon over the weekend.

The trophy, on a Coca-Cola sponsored tour, arrives in Kampala on November 14 and organisers have approached President Museveni to receive it although the Ugandan Head of State is yet to confirm his availability. Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf became the first woman in the world to touch the solid-gold trophy when it visited her country last week.
