Akure — Membership of the Labour Party (LP) in Ondo State increased at weekend with the defection of no fewer than 400 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ifon, Ose Local Government area of the state to the ruling party.
The people were led by former Chairman, Ondo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education, Bankole Aborowa, who said he and his supporters were impressed by the programmes and policies of the current administration.
Aborowa said with the Caring Hearts programmes of the state Governor, Segun Mimiko, the expectation of the people would be realised.
Receiving the people, the state's Deputy Governor, Alhaji Alli Olanusi, said he learnt the people of the area were deceived by the past administration and assure them that they would not be deceived this time.
Olanusi said he was happy that the people are now seeing the differences between the previous administration and the current one.
Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Ranti Akerele, who is an indigene of the local government, urged the people to exercise patience, as the dividends of democracy would reach everybody.
Akerele, who highlighted various projects that the current administration had embarked upon, said Mimiko is a lover of peace and would want them to be cooperative.
