The invitation is for a conference organised by the Parliament of South Korea.
The Ambassador of South Korea to Cameroon, Lee Ho-sung has invited the Speaker of Cameroon's National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril to attend the international conference on the human rights conditions of North Korean refugees who "are moving around South East Asian countries". The invitation was the main purpose of the courtesy visit Lee Ho-sung paid to the House Speaker last October 30 in Yaounde.
The international conference to take place in Thailand will be organised by the South Korean Parliament. Lee Ho-sung declared to journalists after the audience that the conference is the sixth on North Korean refugees and their human rights conditions. "The government and people of South Korea want to improve on the conditions of the refugees", he explained.
The audience also served as an occasion for Lee Ho-sung who is in Cameroon since September 2008 to unveil his road map in strengthening cooperation between Cameroon and South Korea. His ambition has been given a success leeway as the South Korean Embassy was officially re-opened in Yaounde last September. "Since my arrival in Cameroon, we have been trying to revitalise relations between the two countries", he said and further specified, "I want to revitalise our relations in the areas of energy resources". He disclosed that they will soon start big projects in the health and information and communication technology domains.
South Korea's government, Lee Ho-sung said, will also be willing to support the Cameroon government to prevent the progress of the desert in the northern parts of the country. Desertification, he stated, was one of the key issues he discussed with Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril. Korea, the ambassador said, is endowed with much experience as during the last four decades the country faced serious problems of deforestation. "We have been successful in re-forestation and we want to share that knowledge with Cameroon", Lee Ho-sung.
