Rwanda: Kagame Appoints New ICT Minister

Kigali — Doctor Ignace Gahangara Gatare, has been appointed the Minister in charge of ICT in the President's Office.

Doctor Gatare, a PhD graduate and Doctor in Engineering Sciences, was working in the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Photonics at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium.

His PhD research work, according to his Resumé, concerned experimental and theoretical investigations of polarization switching, nonlinear dynamics, optical injection-locking and chaos synchronization in vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs).

The study is relevant in the emerging area of all optical switching techniques and optical chaos communication schemes.

Doctor Gatare who has various educational awards to his name will be replacing Professor Romain Murenzi who was granted a sabbatical leave in July this year.
